Component vs coaxial?

Featured Replies

We're changing front door speakers and have ordered a pair of JBL Stage1 speakers..

Just read there's a difference between component and coaxial, I thought that components were same hardware with an additional tweeter..

We've bought coaxial. Of course.

Can I run the tweeters in the door directly from the 6.5" speaker?

If not, how do I do it?

I could just run the coaxials for now and sort it properly when I have a clue... is this the better option?

Sorry for being a plum.... it's a bit of a curse...

Simple answer is no...

Easiest way for you to do what you want is to but a set of components.

Box will have the 6.5's, the tweeters and a crossover for each pair.

The crossover splits the frequency's to each type of speaker.

And in most cases, components sound so much better, especially when correctly set up.

You can use the wiring from your existing 6.5 to the crossover and then wire to the new speakers.
