Broke my stream mp3...

Featured Replies

Hi!

I was trying to install match pp62dsp to my "new" mk2 octavia.  I had it in my previous mk3 octavia and it was good, so I thought I should try it in this car too... Should have not tried because the sound was just fine with the stock setup.

I plugged the thing in and tested it before I tried to put the head unit back in its place and it was working.  The battle for getting the head unit to it's hole was bloody and i lost it as there was not enough space behind the head unit. I thought to leave it hanging loose until tomorow and to test the sound with the amp but the head unit won't power up. Not even without the amp's wire harness. The fuse behind the head unit seems to be ok. So it seems i broke the head unit when trying to get it into it's place.

So what is the best thing to do now, buy new stream mp3 if i find somewhere? Is it just plug in and play or do I need to code it or something?

Or do you have some recommendations for a aftermarket head unit? Or are they a pain in the butt to install? I'm not really good with these so the easiest is the best solution here

I double checked the fuse layout and found that there is an fuse for the radio under the hood. Don't know how i missed it earlier... :wall:  Fuse was burnt and a new fuse got my stream rocking again.

However I looked at the aftermarket head units and maybe i will do the upgrade. I was looking at kenwood dmx5020bts. Anyone recommend this?
