Alarm recommendations?

Featured Replies

Well, it looks like I get my 4x4 this week, so my thoughts turned to alarms.

Neither Skoda garage I rang this morning seemed particular interested, and seeing as the Skoda Cat 1 is around

Are you looking for something cheaper than

Well the dealers quoted

Well the dealers quoted

Can't recommend anyone as I don't live near, but i would try and find someone who really knows what they are doing.

Preferably someone who regularly fits alarms to VAG cars etc. Its surprising the number of cowboys out there who will bodge an alarm fit (damaging trim as they tear it off and put it back missing a few screws and clips etc) :(

Just my opinion...

I think anyone who's seen my car will agree the alarm was far from a bodge job, and it wasn't fitted by a VAG "specialist".

Clifford's approved fitters are usually pretty good, its a case of finding a good local installer (one who has a name for top-notch ICE installs is a good bet).

DON'T use the "National" installers, they are hopeless. (No names, but if you want them, PM me ;) )

I wasn't so lucky with my dealers first choice of alarm fitter. They managed to damage some of the door trim and thought I wouldnt notice! (They hadn't fitted one to a Furby before)

Dealer was not impressed at having to replace the trim and we got it done by a "professional" fitter (also ICE installers etc) . Much higher standard of fitment. Needless to say they dont use the first fitter anymore! ;)

edit: OK you dont need a specialist VAG fitter, but it helps if they have done near identical vehicles so they know how to remove trim without damage etc.

Thinking about one for mine, although with APR's new ecu disabler, I want it more as deterrent for the interior...tints it is then.

The APR ecu cut off is really neat... :llol:
