Superb: Reversing Camera Wide angle

Featured Replies

Planning to order a Skoda Superb iV, and have a question about the reversing camera.

Does the standard reversing camera have a wide angle view? Or is the wide angle view only available with the 360° Area View option?

Also is there a button/option to display the camera feed on screen without engaging reverse gear?

Thanks

It'll will depend if it's fitted with a lowline or highline reversing camera:

- Lowline cameras are connected to the reversing lights so will only work in reverse

- Highline cameras can be enabled using the parking button or selecting reverse

You'll get the parking button if you have self-parking or front+rear parking sensors. If you only have rear sensors there is no button...

The easiest way to tell if it's lowline or highline is by watching the guidelines when you move the steering wheel. A lowline camera has static guidelines but a highline will have moving guidelines :)

As for wide angle view, I believe that's also a highline only function. Here's a pic from my Octavia (same camera system) showing what it looks like:

Thank you langers2k for your reply.

Do you know what camera the Superb iV L&K comes fitted? Lowline or Highline?

If it helps, my 2020 Superb iV Sportline has the reversing camera with the wide angle option and a button to bring the camera up. Just tried it and it comes on when in 'Park'. It also has moving (with the steering) guide lines.

PS I don't have the 360 degree view option but I do have Park Assist.

Thats really useful! Thank you for your reply.

Just out of curiosity, what does the on screen button at the bottom right do? something to clean the camera?

My L&K had the highline

Yup, washer jet 'button' for the camera.

Seems to give a pretty comprehensive jet of water but how good it is on dried dirt remains to be seen, come the winter and muddy roads.

On my Yeti, one digit was trained to automatically wipe the lens clean whenever the boot was opened - may not have to with this!

Thanks for all your replies. I'm feeling confident to place my order.

The rear view camera is automatically washed when rear gear is engaged and you wash your rear window at the same time.
