Hello

I have today big problem with my superb 2.0 Dsg 190hp 4x4. 2017

I have drive home and i have get sound warning and message that says  Stop the car engine is owerheating.  Imediatley stop the car and check cooland level it has been ower maximum.  Then has slowley go to notmal level. The coolant has been around 120c or more.  After some minutes i start the car and coolant has been at normal 90c.  I have continued driven 3km and the temperature is start reasing again.  I have set the temperature in car to heating and driven home  the temperature was about 108c (i have connect obd to check temperature).
Now after a hour i start engine and left operating(not driving)  and the vents come on at around 100c and the temperature is stay at normal.  I think becouse i didnt drive car…i think if i vill drive car it vill start reasing again.

The car have 150000 km on it.

What is the problem?

Thanx

It could be the plastic water pump vanes that have disintegrated and are no longer pumping the water around to cool the engine.

Have you changed it?  It's usually changed when you fit a new cam belt.

Mmm..........................

Imaginations seem to be running riot today.

It will be the warm up impellor shroud stuck in the deployed position.

And what can i do now?

Can be somethink other that water pump?

Should i do a big service on car now?

thank you

Water pump failure. It has an sleeve that closes and opens depending on engine demands. When the engine is cold, it is closed to help the engine warm up quicker. Sometimes it fails and gets stuck closed so it doesn't let the water cool the engine. It happened to me the same with just 92.000 km and it was repaired under warranty (luckily).

Hey

I have today test the car.  No problems at all, drive 4km at the hil,and 10km normal road.  No problem at all, cooland  has been max 103c but more time at 90-98c.  Wired.

So it can realy stuck water pump…can i drive the car for one week 12km total at day to my work?
Services has no time to repair car this week.

Did you have a look to the coolant tank? There's a silikat bag, supposed to preserve water pump lifetime. But it seems this bag may burst and then generates some water pump issue.

FYI:

Hey!

One question.  When i replace water pump (big service)  must i do something with the obd tester?   Or is the same procedure like in older cars?  Just change everything and no tester needed?

thank you

So instead of a thermostat on these engines it uses a 'variable' water pump, the varaible side loves to seize up on them.

Needs a timing belt and water pump replacement but you should also check the radiator fan is running - this can be done by switching the air con on and it should start spinning.

Replacing the water pump has 2 options, go genuine/standard and you will need to run a purge routine after replacement, other option is some companies now sell a water pump with no shroud to prevent this issue, also means your engine will take a lot longer to get up to temp

So i dont need the obd computer to change the coolant and get air from the system?  Just change everthing and fill collant and start che car and set heating for circulation coolant fluid?

I dont know where i read that must  do with obd  computer procedure after change cooland.

No, you need a diagnostic tool to do the vent routine.

Is possible do that with obdeleven?

Can somebody tell me the procedure? Obdeleven or vcds?
