Driving on the right/Driving on the left

Featured Replies

Those differences seems much smaller than I would have imagined.

Well, I'm very close to the garage door, so I would imagine that's why it looks like this.

How fascinating this is - thank you so much Tishout for carrying out these tests and sharing the results.

So, if I have understood correctly, when It initially shows “Driving on the right” it is in fact set for driving on the left.  But if you override this manually, then from that point in it shows the correct left/right setting.

They really have to fix this - it’s a mess.

Not a problem, alancha! It was interesting to me as well to see how the lights worked.

Yes, you got this right. Weird, isn't it? I'd assume there is an auto setting depending on the GPS location, which does not reflect in the infotainment UI.

You guys are lucky. I have an infotainment system that doesnt offer the "Travel Mode" under exterior lighting at all.   So I am waiting for the dealer to advise next steps unless anyone out there has any ideas?    1.0TSi e-TEC SE

You do not have the matrix lights, right? So, what is your issue exactly?

Basically if you do not have automatically adjusting lights you don't need an option to select the driving side, they can't swap sides anyway.

I will be travelling europe shortly.   I checked the manual to try to ascertain what I need to do if anything to adapt the headlights to RH driving, and the manual says change the setting in  CAR/ settings/Outside/Driving lights/Travel Mode     in the infotainment.  I have  CAR/Settings/Exterior/Headlights on my infotainment system but no "Travel Mode" sub menu option after that ???  hence I cannot follow the manual.  But maybe I just ahve to use deflector covers like on  bulb headlights?

I can't check now, but I'm pretty sure it was in Headlights, no? What have you got, when you press there?

If you don't have travel mode, you will need to put stickers on the headlights.

P.S. Travelling in Europe - what was that?? 🤔

oh, just saw that you don't have the submenu after Headlights... then you definitely need to use the stickers. Apparently, the travel mode is for the matrix headlights only... 😞

Ok. Thanks very much for your help.  I used to use black tape DIY to do the job on all my previous cars but guess I better get some proper stickers now there are no clues on the covers of the light units ;)

I am not sure you need stickers, I think the LED headlights are 'Flat beam' headlights so they do not need adjusting. Full Matrix can be changed as they have a nearside higher pattern. Check with Skoda but if Flat beam there is no requirement.

That's interesting. Haven't heard of such thing as flat beam headlights.

after many years driving all over europe i have never used stickers, just have a look at all the foreign cars and wagons on the road and you will never see headlight stickers on them.told many times with new headlight you dont need stickers,as matrix has said, due to the design of headlight shape.

Thanks to all for your very helpful feedback

My car does not have the Matrix headlights, rather standard LED lights - and the dipped headlight pattern is definitely NOT flat. Back in March '21 when I bought it, and in the vain hope of a European road trip last summer I contacted the manufacturers of Eurolites about compatibility. I was assured that their adapters are compatible with the standard LEDs, and the latest instructions and info are on their website.

Personally I would never travel in France without adapting the headlights, not only is it respectful of other drivers to do so, it would be far too complicated should I be stopped...

Thanks for that input.  I may well do likewise but am still pending feedback from Skoda themselves!
