Skoda Enyaq - What Spec & Add ons?

Thinking of taking the plunge and replacing my Karoq with the Enyaq. 

Thinking of the 132kw 60 Lodge Nav.

There seems to be a host of add ons for the vehicle, the only certain one for me would be the front & rear sensors and reversing camera. 

Still not researched enough regarding home charging point, heat pump??? Etc. 

I only added on the parking pack for front parking sensors.

I didn't upgrade the battery or heat pump because I rarely do more than 200 miles in a day.

There were other things I would have liked, like rear USB charging points, but I'm not paying for child locks and window blinds which I don't need in order to get them.

The packs are an annoyance because each one contained things I'd like and things I have no interest in, and it would have been better for the consumer if we were allowed to select the individual items we wanted.

Thank you for your reply, wholeheartedly agree with you. Spoken to dealer today and he says the heat pump is mainly for vehicles in hot or cold climates

I’d find another dealer that at least has some knowledge of the product he’s trying to sell.

From what I’ve read about EVs and heat pumps, that dealer is reasonably correct. You will gain some range from having a heat pump in cold weather and the colder it is the more that gain will be. In the uk climate it would seem this gain is minimal and was more important on older EVs like 24 and 30 Leafs which didn’t have much range to start with. Something like an Enyaq already has a reasonable range so unless you need to push that range right to its limits I don’t think a heat pump will make much difference.

 

 

(Disclaimer - this is my opinion based on what I’ve read, I understand this is the internet and I’m happy to be corrected.)

The UK has parts with very differing weathers from October to June and a Heat Pump can be rather important if you happen to be using your vehicle in areas where it can be pretty cold and roads can get closed because of snow and diversions can add over 100 miles to getting to journeys end or even anyplace on your journey.   PS, also it is a rather different with 1 or 2 in an EV and using heated seats / heated steering wheel and keeping cozy enough than a full vehicle with people wanting warmth and fresh air and not steaming up the vehicle.  The range does change in lots of EV,s if you add an extra 300 kg or so and need heating or even cooling. It is a shame that WLTP /  RDE2 is not properly based on fully loaded vehicles.

In that scenario an EV would probably need to charge anyway. 

In that scenario it can be real world and public chargers not readily available if you divert so you are in a better situation if you can eek out the range.   There are lots of the UK with chargers out of commission for weeks on end and the chance of rapid charging is very few and far between or actually non existent.  Especially in serious weather conditions including flooding or as it was during lockdown car parks closed or hotels etc with chargers closed down. 

A vehicle with a good range is a blessing, one with an even better range is well worth having. 

Not at any cost though.

£1000 is a huge amount to pay for the rare occasion when extra mileage might be needed in periods of excessively high or low temperatures. 

The heat pump is really designed for markets where extreme winter weather is the norm like Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and the Alpine regions (or the opposite for very hot areas like southern Spain).

The UK winters are comparatively mild, even in Northern Scotland, and don't compare to the regular deep freezes of the areas I mentioned.

If it's absolutely essential for your home or business situation to have maximum flexibility in all weather extremes I don't think EVs are quite ready for your lifestyle yet.

 

I thought long and hard before ordering an Enyaq, but I can count on one hand the number of times a year I drive over 200 miles in a single day. 

So, for me, EVs do work. On the other hand my wife travels the whole of the UK with her work and regularly drives the length of the country, so she won't be getting an EV anytime soon.

Having driven 11,000 miles in an EV in Scotland over the past 11 months and paid so far £17 for charging £1,000 spent on a Heat Pump would be a priority to me for where I am travelling.  But then you learn what is important for where you drive once you are driving EV,s 

How did you manage 11,000 miles for only £17?

No it is spend £1,000 which on a lease might be £1 a day. That is to charge less often because you have more range and take advantage of free chargers as often as poss.  That will be more difficult in this next year in Scotland as more places are charging.  I am on my second charge today after 400 miles and starting off full after charging last night.  Temps were around 20*oC but now 25-27*oC and quick charging on a 43kWh charger but the car was using lots of energy just keeping the battery cool and the car interior cool.  Usually just about high teens ambient temp  is most economic IME.

Charge place Scotland card gives free charging at chargers councils have not yet impossed charges to plug in or per kWH.  Highland region is very expensive.  Angus and Perthshire and South Ayrshire still free but Angus will start to charge in October and South Ayrshire in September. SWARKO take over from CPS/ BP on the 26th and no longer a £20 charge for a card but sadly the apps will still be rubbish.    26th July to early 27th chargers might not be available as the change over happens.  The new Call centre staff will be at the old Michelin factory in Dundee technology complex.

Not entirely true, there is a £20 charge for your first card, but no annual £20 renewal. I've been looking at getting one but decided £20 a year was more than I'd spend charging in Scotland per year. Now its a one off fee, I may change my tune but it depends on what other chargers are available in the area I'm visiting and costs.

For existing card holders like you, there are no further annual charges - so win!

PS Your 11K miles for £17 is actually £57 as you don't get access to those 'free' chargers without the annual £20 charge(and you have paid that 2 times IIRC from another thread :biggrin:). Still amazingly good going, but not quite £17.

PPS This is just me being a pedant and hope this does not derail the thread.

True I have paid £40 on cards so far and £17 at InstaVolt but then I have tapped in dozens of other EV drivers that had not received cards in time, or could not get phone reception or an answer from CPS.   So that will be my wee contribution to the Electric A9 which is still a joke.   SWARCO now have a few more maintenance people employed and hopefully from the end of the month there will be an improvement. Not that mobile reception at chargers will be guaranteed.   The charger I am at now is being cooked by the sun, there are cars on the other chargers and the speed had slowed right down. I am happy to pay to rapid charge if it was rapid but there are none like that anyplace near.  Not worth going to Gretna Green for unless going that way.  I already charged in Perth free while shopping.

Great with comfort in the city and on the highway. Lovely with sports on winding country roads. Fine with normal on ordinary driving. This was so good that I want it again. 7.700 kr

 

Comfort seat package basic - Electric driver seat with memory, electric adjustment of lumbar support. This is a company car and the passenger can easily adjust the seat manually. I use the car 90%, and we do not drive very much privately. Now it sounds very good with massage and for me who runs 60,000 km a year so maybe it would have been a good idea? I have to put it on hold until I get to test how this works. Currently it will be NOK 0,-

 

Light and view package plus - Full LED Matrix headlight with headlight washers, LED daytime running lights, extended LED taillights and Crystal Face. The luminous grill was so stylish that I have to have it. 7.000 kr

 

Infotainment package plus - Navigation with online infotainment for 3 years, predictive cruise control and AR Head up display. The test car I tested had HUD. I think that was fine. Good overview and nice info right on the windscreen. Everything I needed of info was right in sight. Right in sight was also the reflection of the piano-painted list / screen / little wall that was to hide the "hole" in the dashboard, which is located on the dashboard. The sun shone on this and reflected a lot. First straight from this list and into my eyes, and from the list and up into the window so that there was even more glare. I'm not going to have this. The other with info and the like. I do not need as I have Apple CarPlay. I do not want predictive cruise control either. This also had my test car. It sounds nice, but the problem is that the car has old info about speed limits. So on the highway I was cruising at 110 km / h and suddenly the car slows down to 90! Pretty powerful ... 90 was an old speed limit. Sometimes it also spotted a speed limit sign on the bridge and redused the speed. This happened several times. It took a while before I realized what this was and got it turned off. Very unpleasant experience. I do think I want this after all. 9.500, - kr

I will not order the ŠKODA Sound System with 10 speakers and subwoofer. I had Canton in my Superb and was super happy with it. I have Canton in my Kodiaq now and am not happy. In Ålesund there is something called Bass Brothers. https://www.facebook.com/bassbrothersas I will have such a facility. It costs a little more than SSS NOK 10.000 and NOK 1.500 to get someone to install it it. This can be removed again and mounted on another Enyaq later.  11.500,- kr

I've got almost every pack... after a week of heavy use:
the light pack is a must. the full led headlights are just phenomenal.

HUD is just fantastic. I stopped using central cluster after 5 minutes

travel assist. if you are doing high mileage on motorway you will like it

motorised tailgate. sadly it's well hidden. but the default one is the worst design Ive seen in years. if I could this would be the only thing I change.
