What is this?! A random sensor?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, I've just bought a MK3 Octavia estate 2019 "style" edition.

I know this edition doesn't come with front assist, but I can't understand why there are clearly two optical sensors built into the rear view mirror base (pictured) if there is no assist, additionally the assist button is on the steering wheel, but it brings me nowhere when pressed.

Anyone know what the deal is?

Thanks,

Alzer

Auto lights and wipers is my guess.

Agree

Picture is not that clear but one will be rain sensor for auto wipers (if your wiper stalk has four teardrop icons then you have auto wipers) and the other would be auto lights.

Auto wipers will operate at a variable rate depending on which position you put the top switch too on the stalk. I find the third one to be just right in all conditions.

Ahhh now that makes sense.

Does anyone know if there is a part of this forum dedicated to upgrading. I’d be interested to spec out the car as much as possible.

There are posts all over the forum on different topics.  Probably a dozen on Dashcams alone. Y ou just need to wade through or ask a brief question on a specific upgrade you're interested in.  Good hunting!
