Regen issue i cannot get to the bottom of

Featured Replies

2013 octavia vrs with cupa engine 55k miles

Car seems to me doing a lot of 1000 rpm static regenerations even after ive driven the car on the motorways. I do some town work but this issue does seem to be getting more common.

Scanning car shows no fault codes and soot mass calculated is 18g grams and i think the oil ash mass  was about 23g but id need to recheck that if anyone knows what a heathy limit should be. Was going to look at back probing the pressure sensor to see what voltage values and also read the psi pressure at the sensor but after i peeled the heat cover off i noticed straight away it only has 1 pipe connected to it from the DPF?  Am i missing something here??

Just a thought,  are the static regens smelling like a regen with the fan on full tilt too. With warm temperatures the demand of the air con can increase rpm at times too.

I have seen a picture of that sensor somewhere on the forum before where it had melted and that "extra pipe" was not connected to anything.  I seem to remember from that thread it being just to measure a differential from atmospheric pressure.

Those values look normal from my checks on my 2016 2.0 TDI with vcds.

I'm at 71k and my oil ash mass is 25.6grams.  soot mass calculated reaches about 25g to trigger a regen.

Motorway runs is reputed to be unlikely to get exhaust hot enough for passive regen, I've seen VAgdpf screen shots in the thread sticky about "my car smells of burning" and temperatures get to 500c to burn off the soot. Trundling along at 70mph in 6th just ain't gonna get the temperatures up,

One day I'll get round to logging a regen in vcds.
