Warning light operating when nothing wrong

Featured Replies

Power steering warnng light comes on with ignition & stays on, but nothing wrong (Fabia Mk 1 1.9Tdi)

Possibly something like the CAN bus connection not working due to a wiring/connection fault. As I understand it, that would only affect the speed-sensitivity of the steering assistance, which might not be obvious if it defaulted to high assistance all the time.

Or a low voltage condition.  Does the battery light illuminate when you turn the ignition to the position where various warning lights go on and off?

Thank you.  It's the ABS warning light, bur ABS OK (I think).  Voltage good.  How to access CAN bus?  John

Oh, in that case it's probably a broken fuse.  What year was your car made?

See here: 00301 - ABS Return Flow Pump (V39) - Skoda Fabia Mk I - BRISKODA

It'll be strip fuse no.6 above the battery, unless the car is a late one (e.g. 2006>)

It's worth answering my question about the battery light even if you believe 'voltage is good'; it takes approx. 1 second to check.  There's a very common charging system fault that can be diagnosed with this simple check.

Thanks Wino.  There's a red warning light (triangle) next to ABS light that shows at same time.  Fabia Tdi is 2003.Please tell how to check.  John

Hi Wino.  Battery picture lights up.  Goes out immediately when engine started.  Strip fuse section 7 - 16 (only 4 slots occupied).  1 -6 are elec cable connections.  All fuses seem OK (swapped them over where they are same colour).  What now?

Many thanks for your help.  John

No, they are fuses. Strip fuses.

Good news about the battery light but please check or photograph strip fuse no.6

Thanks Wino.  Mine looks OK.  Shall I disconnect, clean & replace?  John

If you're sure it's not cracked then it must be another fault, possibly a wheel speed sensor.  Scan for fault codes.

Many many thanks for all your unbelievably fast responses Wino.  getting a bit technical for me, & I'm 77, so hard to bend down.  I'll get dealer to check next time I'm there.  I once learned how to reset oil service warning, but I've forgotten.  Also, why rear washer stops working.  John
