EGR Delete while keeping DPF

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I am new to this group and need advice.

I want to delete my EGR as it keeps blocking up, I changed it about 16 months ago and now it has blocked up again.

I spoke to a garage who can remap my car and block out the EGR but they recomend I keep my DPF in place. Is this correct or will it block my DPF? Has anyone done this?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you delete your DPF, it is an immediate MOT Failure, so this is not a good idea.

I am surprised that your EGR keeps on keeping blocked up.....might I suggest running some detergent and cleaner through your fuel system to try and keep it clean?

For diesel, I recommend: https://www.hydra-int.com/diesel-power-blast.html

For petrol, I recommend: https://www.hydra-int.com/petrol-power-blast.html

This is particuarly important if you are running your car on Supermarket Fuels.

(other fuel addertives are available)

Generally the EGR should not block up as the DPF catches most of the carbon before it passes through the EGR.

When the EGR was replaced do you know if the ran an adaption on it?

Isn't that only the case on Euro 6 engines?    The OP doesn't indicate the age of his car.

Also, if its pre Euro 6, I'd want to know if it's had the Emissions 'fix' and if so, I'd suggest that he has that rolled back.
