Octavia 1.9 TDI - exhaust/engine management light on

Featured Replies

Hi all - a couple of weeks ago, the orange engine management light came on (the manual calls it the 'control system for exhaust gases'); it's the one in the shape of an engine block:  image.png.d5045ed15f89e1914c7dad51bb4e6f8e.png

I had only gone down the road to the shop; when I went home, it was off again and has been off since, so I haven't thought anything more of it.

Tonight driving, which I don't do as often as I did owing to working from home, it came on again and on one particularly steep hill start at a set of lights, either the car was underpowered or the clutch happened to slip at that time; either way, the revs were up high but not the corresponding movement of the car.

Any ideas?  The manual says could be a fault in the exhaust system somewhere.

Car info:  1.9 diesel estate (not sure estate is relevant!)

Yes. read the fault codes rather than look for psychics on the internet.
