Dead Head Unit?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Yesterday, car works fine (all the well known gremlins aside).

Today i fire the car up and I get plenty of parking sensor issues (photos below) but most depressingly nothing at all of the infotainment screen. Dead.

It drove fine (with exception of parking sensors) but ACC was working ok.

I’ve tried swapping a few fuses around head unit and parking sensors with my working rear usb fuse but nothing changed.

any ideas or am I off to the dealer? Can I try and force a restart of the unit?

help!

Adam

You can hold down the power button on the head unit to reboot it, otherwise take it to the dealer. A few people on here have had new head units under warranty

yep that didn’t work either. Off to the dealer I go… joys!

Thank you for your response.

I've been getting the Park Distance Control errors intermittently for some time and just ignored it, but the head unit on mine has now started power cycling (not all the time), rebooting every minute or so when it does.  Sounds like a trip to the dealer for me too  but fortunately it's a company car so it's more the hassle than anything else.

Exactly the same thing has just happened to mine.  Shut down and rebooted a few times on its own and then dead.  Has anyone been to the dealer with this yet?  What was the outcome?

Our misbehaves, especially with Parking sensors, but I write from experience of a friends car, whose HU died. They have tried an update on dealers and it was still dead. Then after some time it updated OTA, at least this is how she explained to me, and all sorted out by itself. We need to take ours for this update, as nothing is coming OTA, but it misbehaves still.

Since I last posted mine's started going though a constant reset cycle, rebooting approximately every 60 seconds or so (or sometimes only once, all very odd).  Not all the time though.  I did also once get a blank screen and SOS system error, but holding down on the power button reset it and cleared the fault.

Due to this and the parking brake sticking (which typically has now cleared itself) I've booked it in to the garage and also highlighted the other minor niggles I was living with.  Will see what happens - I think I'm a few versions of software behind (1664 if I recall correctly) so hoping it's a simple fix.
