S - Pin

Featured Replies

may be a dumb question,,,But S-Pin keeps coming saying it's not protected. I have inputted the correct 4 digits each time and clicked on the "save" button.

Any ideas?

So you don't feel unloved in light of the fact you've had no replies, I thought I'd reply but I can't be much help as I haven't experienced your problem.

However, both myself and wife have changed our cars recently, mine a Kamiq and hers a Golf 8, so very similar infotainment systems.

When I was going through the settings i came across the S pin setting, (which is optional - you don't have to set one) and I set one. Every time I switched on after that the system wanted me to input my S pin before the system could work. This was a bit tedious, so I clicked on the little icon that says something like 'remember me' or similar (sorry, I can't remember exactly what it says) and since then it doesn't require an S pin each time and the screen greets me with a hello and my name as I've set myself up as the primary user.

I did the same in my wifes car after that and hers does the same and neither car gives us any 'unprotected' messages, so I'd respectfully suggest that you haven't set your system up correctly or you have a fault.

If you find you have to visit your dealer to sort this out, my experience is that you're generally better off asking for the head technician as the front of house rarely know everything.

I lied !! Just been out in the car and I had the same message as you come up. It also said something like ' you can protect yourself by creating an S pin, so that tells me that the one I created I must have cancelled to stop me having to enter it every time the screen fires up.

I expect you've done similar and it just proves that we really haven't quite got to grips with this technology yet.

I didn't investigate further today cos I've just got home from an hour long tooth extraction and a G & T was beckoning me into the house .

.... aint that the truth! At the moment I can't even work out how to display my current mileage. On topic, I don't recall ever seeing or being asked to either set or enter a pin. Is this dependant on either the model or entry system?

We both have SE L models so you have the facility to do it. It's something you have to set up on the infotainment screen and I think it's in the USERS section, but without going out to check, I'm not certain.

Trouble is, I've only just got the car and at present I'm hardly driving it, so I'm not completely familiar with all of the functions and where to find them.

I've leaned how to turn off that bloody thing that tries to pull you sideways, which is very annoying. Shame it can't be turned off permanently !!

i recieived this response from my dealer

Yes I have spoken to the workshop and they have advised if your phone has recently had a software update, you need to delete the phone from the car and the car from the phone and completely re-pair and this should resolve the issue you are having

Until the next time your phone has an update if that's true. Hardly worth bothering with I would have thought as it's hardly an issue.
