My red oil light been coming on.. flushed,changed oil/ filter, took sump off , cleaned oil senders pipe… light still coming on… could it be a weak pump….

From what you've said, yes, or a blocked oil pickup. Also the sender has a capillary tube in it, and I have no idea how you cleaned it.

Thanx for reply… I cleaned the oil pick up pipe with petrol… there were bits n peices of metal swarf in it?  Engine sounds fine and always has done.. never ran low on oil … pressure low though… So gonna look at pump today ….. take it off n swap… never changed a pump, it’s chain driven? Any tips

OK, if you actually cleaned the pickup pipe, then it must be either a bad pressure sender or a weak oil pump. The sender is cheaper and easier to change.

Thanx Ken… did a pressure  test  on Friday n it was low….. swapped pressure sender with spare one on engine and back again( Tuesday now for parts)… I didn’t renew o ring on pick up pipe, just got some , so can renew

just getting sump off spare , get pump  n swap…
