Changing sat nav settings/parameters

Featured Replies

Unless I'm missing something, there's very little scope to change sat nav settings compared to my previous Columbus There appears to be no way to programme it to avoid tolls, motorways ferries etc etc. I could do this in my previous car and I would also be given the option of 3 different types of route when I put in a destination.

I'm assuming these functions don't exist in the Amundsen and as I still have the 2019 map version in my car, I wonder if any of this has been addressed with subsequent updates ?

My Amundsen offers me alternative routes automatically on the route map.

Either I'm missing something in settings or it's because I have a 2019 version in my car. What version of mapping do you have ?

Apologies for the delay, my car is mid 2021

My car was registered in May this year and was built earlier this year as far as I can ascertain.

That's not what I'm interested in though, it's which version of mapping you have that I want to know which you can find in settings.

Although my car was built and registered this year, it has a Nov 2019 version of mapping installed, so either your car came with a later version installed or you were lucky enough to get the summer automatic update, for which you'd need to be registered with Skoda Connect.

Oops! lockdown lag, the car is mid-2020 and I'll check the mapping tomorrow.

Navigation database is 21.8.  Does that answer the question?

Half of it, thankyou, but did your car come with that version or did ou receive an over the air update ?

I've no idea.  I've had various messages about software updates being downloaded but there is never any reference to what was updated.  The car has also had a service when the dealer would check for any outstanding downloads and download them.

I would interpret 21.8 as maybe being August 2021, and as I took delivery of the car in June 2020 if my interpretation is right, then there must have been at least one earlier version installed.

Yes. 21.8 is August this year so it does look as though your car has received an update since you took delivery.

This is all a big learning curve. I thought that any updates came to your infotainment screen and you then had to okay the update before it was installed - so your experience indicates they're done automatically.

This begs the question for my car which I've owned since July, why haven't I had an update ? I shall have to investigate further.

I am pretty sure though that your dealer can't update the mapping, it has to come over the air.

Yes, the dealer can update software by downloading it while the car is in for service.
