Catalytic converter and exhaust for 2005 Octavia 4x4 petrol 2.0 FSI engine, code BLX

Featured Replies

The cats are rattly and MOT failure, and the flexible bit of the exhaust .  Have been searching online for pattern exhaust with cats, but although parts come up, they are never in stock or able to be supplied.  So it looks like it might have to be genuine - very expensive!

Is there any likelihood it is the same as the non-4x4 one?  Or does anyone have any recommendations for getting this part?

Thanks

Marianne

Instead of searching online maybe call in person at a Local Motor Factors, or into an Independent Tyre and Exhausts centre or a Specialist Exhaust fitter rather than part of a Multi National.   But they are worth checking as  well.   I have had places like that fit parts or systems cheaper than I could get then and fit myself.

Part seems to be the first item 1A here: exhaust pipe with catalyst; ----------------------... - Octavia(OCT) [EUROPA 2005 year] (7zap.com) (view on a computer, not phone to see all the info).

Part number 1K0254500QX.

Superseded in Aug 2012 by 1K0254506HX apparently Buy 1K0254500QX exhaust pipe with catalyst Skoda, Volkswagen genuine OEM part (oemwolf.com)

Not sure that helps massively though.

Welcome to Briskoda, by the way.

@Sidecarlady or a small chain. I can't name one that would help you, but I've never paid full retail for exhaust bits at a place with 1 to 6 branches.

Its been more than 20 years since I have seen or known of a specialised exhaust fitting centre and I am talking about the busy South East where there is everything, exhausts in general last so long and have done so since the advent of closed loop catastrophic convertors and aluminised systems that there just doesn't seem to be the business around for one to survive.

The last survivor that I recall was Mr Exhaust at East Grinstead, they gave up some time in the last century, do any members still have an Exhaust Centre near them? -I dont include the likes of Kwik Fit as a specialist exhaust fitting centre.

For the first 20 years of my motoring if an exhaust lasted 18 months you were doing well, the factory fitted one may have lasted longer but any subsequent ones didn't, adverts always used to read new/recent exhaust, my Minis needed the manifold flange seal redoing every 3 months.

I remember being shocked in 2007 I think it was, during the Credit Crisis or whatever the economic slump was called, the government were giving £1K or might have been £2K scrappage for people to PX a 10 + year old vehicle against a new one, there were super reliable cars in fantastic condition being scrapped  because they needed a new exhaust section, the first repair that they had ever required.

No need to go to the fancy places but there are those.

Anyplace the Barry Boys get their exhausts done will do.  Back Street fitters where Barry Boys might work.

That forum linked to would appear to have died many years ago.

@J.R.. They went Facebook but I thought you might not do Facebook as it was not common in the South East 2 decades ago.

I found that you could still access some archived threads on that site.

I have broken a record, 2 hours sitting on an uncomfortable solid wood dining chair at the kitchen table laughing myself to pieces at the computer!

It was worth it!

And no, I dont do Fessbook!

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.  I have already tried the local motor factors, and exhaust centre (but they use the same motor factor) and they cannot supply.  When we bought the car we were told it was a rare petrol 4x4 model, and it does seem as though this might be true!   The engine code is BLX and it is a 2.0 litre FSI.  Automotive Online list it as part number SKO1019H with "enquire for price and delivery".  When I enquired, I was informed it was not available.

There's a tyre and exhaust place in our village - https://www.ladybanktyres.co.uk/index.php/exhausts  There's a branch of this company just a few miles away - https://www.longlife.co.uk/  A custom exhaust company 20 minutes away - https://www.pipedynamics.co.uk/

There are also a few others, here in the Kingdom.
