Columbus unresponsive after bluethooth connection

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hopefully someone might have seen this, after connecting my phone (for the first time) the Columbus stopped doing anything useful. No sound, buttons down the side do nothing either.

It turned on and off, loaded the Skoda logo then hangs on the radio screen.

so I unplugged the bluetooth modual under the seat, no change. Disconnected the battery (only for about 30 seconds) now it does the logo and prompts for a pin after, I have the pin but can't put it in becuase the screen doesn't respond.

Any suggestions? Does the battery need to be off longer maybe.

Thank you!

P.S it's a 2010 Superb

Does your unit have a Microphone on the top right hand side button, or a small speaker with a letter i next to it?

Thanks for replying, it has a microphone symbol on

Well, a non responsive touchscreen is an indicator of a failed motherboard I'm afraid. Probably nothing to do with you connecting a Bluetooth module, just unfortunate & coincidental. The fix is a new motherboard (unless you can find someone to repair yours which is rather involved) which isn't really financially viable due to cost & labour. Best idea is a replacement unit.

I have a couple in the workshop if you like.

Just my luck, only got the car last week.

What is the cost on the replacements?  Suspect I'm going to need to save up fit one.

I'll have a check what's in the workshop, but budget £300 max, delivered.
