- there's only one fairy in these there woods you know......

So glad you said that ;)

I've completed two WU's so far and just got the second PC running.

When I try to add -forceSSE I get an error message

---------------------------

Folding@Home

---------------------------

Folding@Home Version 5.03

Usage: fah5 [-option1] [-option2] ...

Options: -config Configure user information

-configonly Configure user information, then exit

-help Dispaly this usage screen

-queueinfo Get information on queued work units

-delete x Delete item #x from work queue

-send x Send result #x to server then exit. Use x=all to send all results

-verbosity x Sets the output level, from 1 to 9 (max). Default: 3

-pause Pause after finishing & trying to send current unit

-oneunit Exit after completing one unit

-local Use configuration files from local directory. Default: Registry

-forceasm Force core assembly optimizations to be used if available

-advmethods Use new advanced scientific cores and/or work units if available

Please note the above recognized flags for when you start Folding@Home again.

OK

This suggests that -forceSSE is not an option.

Any clues

Cheers,

Jon

If you check the file called "unitinfo" it gives progress on your current workings.... I suspect this is your first one now, so once it reacheds 100%, and then goes back to 0% to start the new unit, it will be about 6 to 9 hours before you appear on the league in the link in the first post. :)

Obviously the more machines working, the quicker it will get on there and the quicker your charge up the leaderboard.

How long is normal to complete 1 WU (whatever 1 of those are) lol

Depends on the particular protein fold. Some take a day, others take months.

Yeah I bought an old server to run my email and stuff and have an Athlon 2500 doing nothing much. Not a great deal of CPU power but everything helps!

I ran it at 100% CPU for 2 days and it overheated and shut down - doh! So it's at 60% now and doing well.

Thats the ultimate over heating solution - run it slower or add more cooling. :) I bet it would be OK on 70% though. ;) :P

someone passionate about origami? :D

Your team ranks 12 Jason, how many's that out of?

Ok, 1 WU done, it was 500 frames:rolleyes: , next 1 started, 5,000 frames:eek:  . That will have my PC going for next 12 mths:thumbdwn: . What happens why l need to restart my PC:confused:

The folding program saves itself every so often, so shouldn't be a problem. On reboot it will continue where it left off.

That bit on the left is my rank in the team - 12 out of 105 odd now, but many are inactive. The team is ranked 153 out of 40 odd thousand teams.

Blimey, you lot are folding faster than Superman on laundry day
