Any (easy) way to get fuel out?

Featured Replies

As my car has just expired and look like will be scrapped it would be handy to get the fuel out - It has nearly a full tank in currenlty

I'm guessing the feed to the tank has some form of anti-syphon but does any one know if  there is  any way to run the fuel pump and tap into one of the feed pipes to pump it out?

On our 2008 petrol Golf 5 I managed to disconnect the fuel pipe coming up towards the engine and used my in line hand siphon pump to remove most of the petrol from the tank. I could not dip the tank nor could I do anything from under the rear seats. I did not want to damage the car too much as it needed to be driven onto a trailer by copart.

Mine is a Diesel so will be different.  I can see the fuel filter under the bonnet, this had a number of pipes going to it (4 I think) I'm assuming there is a low pressure pump from the tank to the filter and then a high pressure pump sits after this.  If I knew which was the outlet from the filter I could simply tap into that and run the low pressure pump but I can't find any information on that.
