Usb switch possible?

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a blanking plate next to my light controls and it would be handy if I could mount a usb socket there. I used to have a mk2 and the fuse box was behind but I know on the mk3 it is behind the glovebox. Does anyone know if there is a power source behind the light contorols that I could tap into? Thanks

Out of interest, why?
There is a USB port in the centre console.

But theres no 'to hand' power source worth using behind there, lots of low power stuff

I have my phone cradle in that corner. Would have been useful to charge it there but I can live without. Thanks

That's where the headlight level switch goes on non-xenon / LED cars. It will pop out from behind. There's a trick to removing the headlight switch to make that easier.

The little storage door drops down and can be fully removed. There's a surprising amount of space in there. I think you'd need to run the feed across to the fuse box on the nearside, or connect into the USB supply in the centre console

ETA that's also where your obd port is, so you could use an obd to USB power adapter. it'll be permanently live though
