Before I break anything can anyone advise how the bulb is held in on the 2017 model, can't even seem to get the wiring plug off and sure I am going to break something

It's just tight, or very slightly corroded into the bulb-holder....

 

Assumimg you can remove the bulb and bulb-holder from the lamp unit OK (releasing the wire clip), then use a fine blade screwdriver (or two) by carefully insterting into the gap and twisting. Go round the circumference and do a bit at a time. If you cannot get the screwdriver in, then try a small penknife blade (but don't break the tip off it!)

Thanks but I don't seem to have a metal clip liek you would usually find on a bulb. Difficult to get your head around to take a look in the whole but def no clip

I'm in the middle of installing Hifi in our lounge, but I will take a look at mine later, and get back to you.

 

I haven't had need to change a bulb yet, but the lamp units may vary - for example mine is a twin H7 system (per lamp unit).

managed to get it done. Need to twist the holder a little and the holder comes out with the bulb attached 

So yours is a "variant 2".

Same as mine for all 4 headlight bulbs...

 

Clearly, some models have spring clips though (variant 1)!

These have the H4 twin filament bulbs. 

Pre facelift version and posable S trim on FL version?

Just fitted 2 H4 Osram Nightbreaker bulbs to each of our two CitiGo’s. Getting the 3 bladed connector block off the back of the bulb was difficult, but with a lot of jiggling and pulling at the same time they all released.

The differ even for night driving is much better, a whiter light and penetrating the darkness better/further.

The fixture in our 63 and 15 place was the swivelling clip.
