Why would you want to? They normally sound a few times and then stop anyway.

Because it’s a taxi and people sit in the back without seatbelts on 

Can't you insist they belt up? 

 

I wouldn't want their heavy bodies thumping into the back of my seat in a crash!!

You clearly don't have mates who drive taxis.

Well I do, and he's also in the IAM like me!

 

As far as I am aware, it's only taxi drivers who are exempt from the law requiring car passengers to wear seat belts when they are fitted to a car. And if taxi drivers can ban smoking in the cabs, I don't see why they can't explain that passengers not wearing seatbelts are liable for a £500 fine.

 

(Pitbull4x4 hasn't said where he lives, so I'm assuming he's in the UK. If not then other laws will apply.
