VRS 245

Featured Replies

Recently bought a 2019 VRS 245. Has anyone used after market air filters that go into the existing air box? And what difference did it make?

Should not make any without Stage 1.

And even after that it is questionable.

BMC showed better filtering than K&N, while keeping the same flow.
You will gain some noise.

so many posts on this one and has been covered many times - have a look through some of the old posts. Not even engine or car specific - aftermarket air filters and their pros / cons - must have been discussed on every car forum ive been on.

About 1% extra with a pipercross panel filter, 245 made 298bhp with superchips map and 302bhp with map and filter. Hardly earth shattering but as I keep cars a few years I think a cleanable filter is a good option anyway. I was pleased to scrape over the 300 mark, but to be honest it's difficult getting the power down until 3rd gear anyway. I've kept the original paper filter to stick it in if I need to while the panel filter dries after a clean, but on my last 2 cars I've just cleaned them on a hot day and they dry in the sun pretty fast anyway.

It did make me wonder how a 1% gain in a 60bhp Corsa or something would feel.

No noticable noise increase with any panel filter I've fitted mate.

IME waste of money.
