Service Intervals

Featured Replies

I got an email from the dealership that I bought my car from saying that it was due a service.

It was registered Feb 2020 and I bought it back in April with 3,000 on the clock. I was thinking that the service requirements were 10k miles or annually, so as it's only covered 8,300 miles I was expecting it to be due next Feb.

When I contacted the dealership they said they had serviced the car on 13 Dec last year so it was due a service next month.
According to the infotainment panel, it's not due for another 154 days or 8k miles?

Does anyone know whether or not if I wait until Feb to get it serviced it would affect the warranty🤔

Mine seems set to variable servicing, as it's four months old yet the car tells me it is not due to be serviced for another 540 days or something, sounds like yours is the same.

My local dealership when I purchased a two-year service plan, told me nah just bring it in after twelve months as standard, again sounds like yours!

My car came from elsewhere in the country incidentally.

There seem to be so many differing opinions on service schedules that I do basically intend ringing them at the 12 month point to book it in, and if they raise a query re the service schedule I'll deal with it then. I would have any car serviced every 12 months anyway.

The manual for my model for the service schedule states only:

If the vehicle detects that a service visit is necessary, it will automatically send this information to the service partner of your choice. The service partner will then contact you and schedule the service visit with you.

Hence why I will ring them at the 12 month stage, will mention the days remaining to service as quoted by the car at that point, and take it from there.

As with many things from the Skoda manuals, this is another area that is as clear as mud.

Which isn't until 20 Apr 2022! I suggest you contact the dealership and ask for a copy of the car's service record.

So for once a dealership has not changed a Service to Fixed / 9,600 miles / 372 days to suit them.

That means you service the car according to the Service Indicator if you want or sooner if it suits & when Serviced leave it on Variable Service intervals if you want or ask to have that reset to Fixed Servicing intervals.

Sounds to me like it's on fixed services.

They've serviced it in December when it's come into stock, but reset the clock in April when it left the forecourt?
