soft brake abs esc and brake warning

Featured Replies

not about my octy but my partners mk5 golf so the same car. a few months ago the brake pedal was feeling soft so i did an emergency stop to make sure it was working. the esc and abs light came on instantly , over the next few days it was intermittent but now is on solidly from the moment the engine is started no driving required. pedal is  soft and will drop when held firmly and goes hard after one pump.

replaced all 4 wheel bearings as i had them already - no change

ordered a used mc on ebay as my mates octy with similar mileage had the soft pedal and that sorted his - no change

on completing the mc and bleeding the brakes now i get the brake warning on some times. seems to go after a restart fluid is full

only code in vcds is rear right wheel speed sensor mechanical failure. logged in vcds and its getting no reading what so ever.

was going to get a new speed sensor but now im thinking it may all be related to the abs module as i know the wheel speed sensor wiring terminates at the abs module.

anybody got any ideas or diagnostic tips?

cheers

just for any future readers the wheel speed sensor mechanical failure was actually the sensor its self not the wheel bearing on this one

Useful to know. Just one thing - have you done an ABS unit bleed using VCDS? I believe it is recommended after a MC change.
