Hi, my throttle body is playing up and putting the engine light on,  I've found one on ebay with the same part number as mine but it has an M at the end and mine has an G

does anyone know what this means and will it still fit my fabia VRS?

Your part numbers are a digit off, it should be 128 in the middle, not 129, according to ETKA. (item 3 here: vacuum system; exhaust gas recirculation - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2006 year] (7zap.com))

The suffix G part number has been replaced by suffix L, no idea what suffix M fits.

No, is this a common fault then?  Why would the wire be damaged? 

Wiring tends to be as thin as it possibly can be, and gets heat-cycled and vibrated whenever the engine is run. It's also now 15 years old. Careless workmanship during maintenance or disconnection without understanding of the latch mechanism are also risk factors.

Always worth a quick look in the vicinity of the connector cable entry.
