Does anybody please know what this part/number is called please?FL Vrs mk2

Featured Replies

I have ordered from gsf a manual transmission flange seal-my right side driveshaft tha goes into the gearbox is weeping,as shown in my photo.

Although now it’s just arrived in the post-part number 002301189c, it looks like it is a lot smaller than the part I need.

Is there anything special I will need to do this job myself? Do I need more gaskets when I open her up??

Thanks so much for your help, this is the best auto forum I have used.

Are you sure it's a gearbox leak?  It's possibly related to your other engine oil leak higher up.

Gearbox oil has a characteristic smell, similar to cat urine.  Compare your drip with dipstick smell.

Might save you an unnecessary job.

This has got me wondering now…. The oil leak further up and not a gearbox seal/flange at all…….

The other day I was spiritedly putting the boot down as just coming into a dual carriageway. The car seemed to safety lunge slow down and go into a limp mode of sorts.

I pulled in straight away and stuck vcds on it.It showed P164B-Oil Pressure switch-intermittent.Cleared the code and carried on.

Friday morning I changed out the weeping with oil, turbo inlet gasket and car does seem to be better.Gasket was quite rusty/rotten.

I now have a new genuine 038919081H(C or K) oil pressure switch.I have been reading a lot on this today and it could actually be the culprit.even spraying oil down as far as the driveshaft/gearbox area that has oil on it…..

What do you think? I will change it out tomorrow morning anyway as it was only £7 odd.Apparently these are prone to leak either in the thread to engine join or inside the actual sensor wire region also.

Today Just for luck I put a new Maan oil filter in,my previous Bosch had only done 3000 odd miles but it gave me some peace of mind and I also replaced the fuel tank area inline fuel filter as I’d only changed the engine fuel filter when I bought the car.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you for your help and I will post my results after swapping out the oil pressure sensor tomorrow.

(It is located under the air intake pipes on the back of the engine right??)

Found the oil pressure switch on the ccza engine guys.

It is really easily accessible just underneath the oil filter,a brown colour switch/sensor which is above a blue one,but needs a deep 24mm socket which I’ve ordered.

There was no oil leak present on mine,I’m a bit disappointed to be honest as I was hoping this was the cause of the oil leak on top of the turbo oil inlet.Like I say,I’ve just changed out the gasket for that so I will monitor it plus plug vcds into the car every few days plus keep an eye on oil levels.

Thanks again and I hope this may help someone in future.
