problem with the reverse sensor

Featured Replies

the reverse sensor did not work, there was a squeak after driving the reverse gear and the silence sensor was turned off,
the computer indicated broken sensors
I replaced the damaged ones
the system works but shows an obstacle to the right
I replaced the other two sensors
for a while the system was working properly
then again points to the obstacle on the right

What new sensors are you buying ?    I ask because I had very similar problems with my Roomster.   I replaced sensors with ones I got from eBay and had continuing problems.  I finally replaced with VW Parts, they were not cheap and I seem to remember about £80 each, but once all 4 were replaced with VW Parts I had no more problems.   Also ensure you replace the sealing ring that goes with each sensor too.

I replaced the driver and I have such errors, do I need to configure after the change?

I replaced one one my daughter's FII with one from Aliexpress and it worked fine. It took a couple of weeks to arrive.

Try swapping the sensors from right to left and check if the faults move to the left. If not it could be wiring or the controller.

I'll be interested if it's still working 6 months later.  As I wrote earlier I had lots of issues with non VW (expensive) parts.   Yes they always worked, but failed again a few months later. I was getting tired, although very skilled, at taking the rear bumper off and on.   So post an update to confirm they carry on working.

Mine have started to play up. It started in the summer when I got a continuous tone with the display showing a long line on one side. It only happened once and then rectified itself. Stayed OK until last month when after washing the car the same thing happened and then rectified itself. Yesterday after the heavy rain it played up again so I went round the sensors pressing them into the bumper and the seals seemed squishy. Reversed towards a wall and it was ok. Don't fancy removing the bumper to replace or mend the offending sensor(s). I have never had the car pressure-washed which can damage the sensors.

Update. After last night's heavy rain and the pushing in of the sensors yesterday they are working ok.
