Highest mpg for me ever?

Featured Replies

Hullo

This was a result of having my narrow steels back on the front of the car, putting another 15 psi into each of the front tyres, and a 45 minute drive along a narrow windy A road, behind a lorry, averaging 45mph or so, in fifth most of the time - result:

68.5 mpg! - :bouncer:

As soon as I get my alloys back on I'll be back into the "not much more than" 50mpg territory again, at least according the computer that is. :(

I'm on 57mpg for the half tank of ultimate diesel I've used so far which is nice.

Its certainly about 3mpg above where I would expect to be , although I'm not convinced the engine is noticably quieter or smoother.

The best individual journey I've managed was 64mpg over about 40 miles but that was a month or so back.

The funniest thing was I was descending the hill downward about 1/2 mile before Torrington, fifth gear, 50-mph, foot off the throttle, and the mpg went well into the low 70s, then I needed to do a third gear crawl up a really steep hill and then through the town to the office, and I just had to stare at the mpg falling away... Still, a good result over all. :D

My Jabba trip might be a good time for some ultimate mpg testing because once I have my tank I'll be doing about 60 miles of M-way, then it's A46 all the way across to Coventry - good opportunity for some 60/70mph testing.
