I have just picked up something in the past and said i will take this thanks unless you want to refund me double

I have done that once or twice, one person got quite belligerant and said "that is theft!" and I replied, "now you know how it feels!"

Well, in short  as I'm more than qualified for the job and I do this sort of thing almost daily I might as well just do it myself.

If I do the job myself I know its done right and the car has been treated with respect.

I work in the industry and every day I see jobs half done and a total disregard for customers cars. It's actually quite shocking sometimes what goes on TBH.

My dealer films the service so you know he not done a half oil change service and all the updates for the car

Hello, I have a new Skoda vehicle for which it is specified to use 0W20 oil (508.00 509.00 standard). Since new vehicles can consume up to 0.5 liters per 1000 kilometers, my question is, can I use oil from a different manufacturer? The car is 2 months old, and I want to be prepared in case I need to top up the oil. I don't know what oil is currently in the car, but I assume it's the original VW oil - VW LONG LIFE IV FE 0W20 508.00/509.00 1L. Will there be any issues if I use (mix) Castrol EDGE Professional LL IV FE 0W-20 (VW 508 00/509 00)?

Hi, as long as the oil is the same specification it will be OK .

When did you guys had your first oil change?

Skoda says 2 years or 30.000km, but 30.000km is very long, too much to have a new engine with all the metal parts in it after the breaking in period.

I would try to change it at ~2000km, then 10.000km, then as they say probably, whichever comes first since I don't drive very much.

But I'm not sure they will want or that they will actually change the oil and filter, not just sit and take the money.

Hi,

I did the first oil and filter change at around 600 Miles.  The 2nd oil change at around 5k and then 10k. Its due a service now but the weather isn't the best.  I go by the rule, if the oil is dirty, change it. I always use Castrol edge oil.

You did good, changed it often. I don't know what oil Skoda officially uses, but I saw that also Liqui Moly and Ravenol are good.

I only have ~1000 km, but considering how people are - the majority not the few ones that really care, I would be laughed off by Skoda if I change it at ~2000km.

I'm wondering if changing at a different car service would leave marks or something and if they can tell considering I find an OEM oil filter.

Of course, without resetting the service interval because that I would do as they want, I just want an oil change in between at least.

Hi,

I use  VW approved Castrol edge 5w30 oil, last 2 oil changes I used Skoda filters, supplied by my local Skoda garage. This time I'm using a Mann oil filter. As long as the oil you use is approved by Skoda you'll be fine, the Mann filters are half the price of the genuine Skoda filters and are just as good IMHO. Best thing is just to change the oil regularly at least once per year or 5k miles.
