removing vacuum hose from tandem pump bkd engine

Featured Replies

Hi All and seasons greetings.

as the title, how is the brake vacuum hose removed from the tandem pump. Im guessing its just a case of it pulls off, but as everything else on the car has gone brittle I dont want to snap it. Its the one that goes on number 1 below.

It just pulls off.

Usual leaks are;

1. from the pump spigot becoming a loose fit in the pump, fixed with silicone RTV.

2. lengthwise splits in the rigid plastic pipe to the brake servo, replace or fix by removing the affected section and fitting a sleeve join with suitable rubber hose.

head gasket has gone after 260k, so its all comming apart 😬

At that mileage I'd bung in a bottle of K-Seal and live with it.
