Window tints

Hi looking at hi looking for help, 21 plate superb iv any idea on the tint on rear passenger windows, even dealers can't give me an answer. Need to be 70% max with 30 % transition for my council any help appreciated cheers

I’m assuming this is for a taxi vehicle test?

you might find it is written on the glass itself like some windscreens?

 

but a private hire test should pass the glass test unless they can prove it should not by either using a tool to check or if it’s written on the glass.

Your word is not proof for the tester to pass/fail it.

 

That being said if it’s not for this, any decent window tinting company should have test equipment for making sure the work they do is legal.

The scores on the doors are all good and well but the Council rules are so that you can see who is in the back.

Look at the car and see if you can see in.   I think you can not.

If it helps, the VW brochures list the standard tint at approx 65%. I can't imagine they have a Skoda specific window tint so it's likely the same?

I thought strength of tint was denoted by a letter on the glass, the further down the alphabet the darker the tint, anything below V was too dark for taxi work.

I have an SEL which probably has the same glass, rear windows are marked "V" and it appears to allow less than 70% of light through but nothing more specific than that, other web-sites say "tinting less than 70%" which could mean many things.

 

Try calling a cal glass place and asking them.
