Front passengers indicator not working! Help!

Featured Replies

mk2 2007 pfl octavia l&k. front passengers indictor has decided to stop working. there is no power at the plug on pin 9. everything else in the headlamp works fine so the ground is ok. i was reading that the ccem can give trouble and cause a light to stay on, or in my case off. has any body had this before before i go coding in a new ccem. i do have vcds. does anyone know what pin the indictor corresponds to on the ccem? car is family owned the last 12 years and on 240,000 miles! i does come up with an error on the dash for the non working bulb. i have checked all, headlamp, holder and bulb and all is working fine!

any help greatly appreciated!

I can't answer your specific questions but the most common cause of such odd electrical gremlins on Octies is corroded connectors.  Even unplugging and replugging can make a difference.

Also (from the back of my memory) there's something about the CCM flagging a bulb as failed and not clearing the flag until the car is switched off and on again.

You will not see any voltage at the bulb or its connection if the automatic test on start up (or soon after) has detected a bulb/connection failure. The supply is removed until the fault is corrected

Have you tried a new bulb?

I have tested the bulb and it works fine, I have unplugged and looked at the connection and it’s clean and Undamaged. I have also started the car and cycled the key several times. Any other ideas?

I was going to ask if the fault was applicable to indicating only or also during hazard operation but seeing you have a bad bulb warning...

Given the age and especially the mileage I'd be more inclined to suspect a bad connector/chafed wire rather than a bit of solid state electronics.
