Suspension knock 2015 VrS

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

My 2015 VrS (75K) has developed a knock on the nearside when dropping over manholes and other minor road imperfections.. I have taken it to a local independent who has changed the front nearside shock which was knackered, however the knock has persisted. I have taken it back to them, they have test driven it, acknowledged that there is still a knock but has not been able to diagnose further saying that everything front and rear is tight

To me it sounds like a top mount or a cracked spring. I have not noticed the car ride or performance drop

Any ideas would be welcome prior to me trying the local main dealers

best regards

Ross

I have a similar issue. Went down a pothole and have a noise when going over rough ground. The only thing the mechanic could find was a slightly weeping shock absorber which he changed but the noise still persists. He can’t find anything wrong at all. I asked him to change the strut top mount as there is a creaking from the steering but he didn’t as he said there was nothing wrong with the top mount. I wish he had just changed it as it’s only £25 and at least would have eliminated that possibly.

There’s nothing more frustrating than a noise that can’t be diagnosed especially when the car is a taxi and I’m driving it for 10 hours a day.

I have the same issue, I suspect it to be the top mount as everything else is okay visually and I can't find any excessive play in the joints.

I've purchased the top mounts, bearings, drop links and shock absorbers (just in case) and will do both sides.
In my opinion, it isn't worth buying cheap brands and only changing one side with something like suspension.

There is an article online about Octavia top mounts, so could be part of what you are experiencing.
