Skoda Octavia VRS Challenge suspension

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.
I recently bought a Skoda Octavia Vrs Challenge equipment package.
I noticed that the suspension is quite stiff.
I wonder if it is harder than the standard VRS or is it the same?
Does anyone have experience with some other springs, more comfortable of course.

Thanks

Pretty sure the Challenge gets DCC as standard, have you tried changing the driving mode to comfort or normal?

Oh - and maybe check the tyre pressures too :)

Tyre pressure is 2.5bar, that is normal I think.

About DCC... i have drive select but without suspension adjustment.

The tyre sizes and corresponding tyre pressures are usually shown on the inside of the fuel filler flap.

What tyre sizes and tyre pressures does it show?

Maybe put a photo up of the label on here.

What tyre size are you using?

Is this a British car? Not sure about NI but for the rest of the UK, I would expect a Challenge spec car to have DCC...

Given your car doesn't have a 'comfort' setting it's unlikely to have DCC.

Without DCC, I'd expect all VRS to have the same suspension with obvious differences for TSI/TDI, hatchback/estate etc.

Car is from the Czech Republic, i bought it and drive it in

Croatia.

Then as far as I know, it'll have the same suspension as a standard vRS :)

If it's on 19" alloys, they can compromise the ride quality. Tyre choice can also effect it too.

Tyre pressure should be 2.7bar for 19s.

This is a bit of a longshot but....

In the past when anyone has complained of stiff suspension and poor ride in this forum (usually new cars) the subject of checking the front suspension for transport blocks has been useful tip on a surprising number of occasions. Even been found on second hand cars.

Jack up the front suspension to let springs extend and see if there are any brightly coloured plastic blocks exposed that can then be easily slid out.

You can do each side one at a time.

They should have been removed prior to sale of course but are sometimes missed off the checklist or only one side done.

As I said a really remote chance but a simple and cheap check.

I don't believe it, the car has 195000km, 6-7 years old someone would have noticed it already.
