Lease car and servicing

Featured Replies

Hi all. I lease my vRS. Currently on 16k miles. I had the oil service warning come up at 9k. I asked here and called local Skoda and the consensus was that it didn’t need a service until 16000, that the dealer had set it to fixed schedule and not to worry until the first main service at 16k. So now I’m at 16k and want to book a service (there’s now an alert for this), however doing it through the auto booking option on their site is only giving me an option for 2nd service. But there has t been a first and there was no alert for this. My concern is that due to electronic service book that the lease company might get difficult about missing a first schedule despite no alert for this other than the oil alert that was dismissed by Skoda theirselves. Have I missed something?  Anyone had issues with lease companies being difficult about this stuff?

Apologies for barging in on the mk3 forum ( I sold mine last year ) but effectively this will be your 2nd service.

The auto booking system will be baased on fixed intervals.   Your 1st flexible service is, for all intent and purpose, the same as a 2nd fixed service. Don't they have a comment section on the booking form - you can explain what service you require there.

As for your question about lease companies - who have you leased it from? If it's Skoda and you approached the dealer then fine. Not sure what you were told before but I'd have advised you to check with your lease company / your lease agreement on what type of servicing is required. The rule of thumb is lease companies use variable servicing but that's not always the case.

Hope that helps.

It’s through a lease company, not directly from Skoda. I actually contacted them at the time I had the original oil service alert and told them what Skoda said but no reply. It might just be easier for me to call Skoda up and book the service. I Just don’t want the service record to show I’ve missed anything and get hit with an extra cost or something from the lease company. It’s the first time I’ve leased or had a car this new so unsure of how it works
