skoda fabia 1.2htp taillight confusion.

Featured Replies

dear members, i been following this site quite a fair bit. took lots of information out of it.  too fix and upgrade my last year obtained "skodientje" as i nicknamed her.

after fixing  the suspension i am now working on a smaller work.  a reverse camera. so clever.me searched her the earth and reverse light colours.

brown - earth

blue- black reverse.

i tapped of both.  but i seem to not get the camera to work. reverse light does work.

now it can be a few things.  of which i am testing. but i found something weird.

so i tought i come ask her for advise.

and yesaybe it finaly took me over the edge to sign up :)

my right taillight plug has a adapter to tap of the grey red wires towards the bumper. as wel as a other cable. not the brown. are those for my back up sensors ?

please advise if

brown truely is earth.

and blue black is reverse light. currently i disconnected the camera to not create a short. or dagerous ( basicly i got a dc plug at the present.

ps blue black is pin 3 and brown is pin 4

if that helps

friedly regards michiel

as stated above. it was the right wire. had to redo my connections. created one that did light up the cam nothing on the head unit yet. but wil work on that issue in the next days depending when my new electrical measurement comes in :)

dear forum mates.

it seems the power wont come through the cable.  so i have a alternative plan.

as i dont want to replace the cable again through the car.

i am thinking about to place a fuse adapter. too pull a direct cable from 13 fuse to the radio camera activate cable on headunit.

please advise if its a good idea

also does skoda use micro mini or regular fuses

Try disconnecting the two-way connector that goes onto the reversing light switch on the gearbox.  Short the two contacts of the loom connector with a piece of wire and see if the problem still persists.

I think you may discover one of two things by trying this:

1. The wiring to the reverse light switch connector is damaged and almost broken, or if there is no sign of that

2. The reverse light switch is worn out and a replacement may enable the function you are attempting.

i should clearify:

reverse light works perfectly.

reverse camera works. (lights up)

on the signal cable there 2 cables.

which i tried to scotch lock onto the power wire. sadly it wont return the  power signal tonthe head unit.

so i am now  considering to piggyback it from the fuse box.  to the reverse activate on the radio

this is the signal cable. sadly scotch lock the  red to the positive didnt work.

i am now considering to not have rewire the cable again  all the way to bypass the  red cable  by   taking   the power straight from fuse 13 reverse. whit this product.

to clarify: i pulled the cable out of sight super nice.

Fuse 13 is before the reversing light switch in the circuit, so its output is 12V any time the ignition is on. Is that OK?

A mixture of mini and standard blade fuses.
