Evil Dealer vs. Briskoda Stickers

Featured Replies

So i sent my money off in the post to Tavia4x4 for a small Briskoda Sticker this morning.

Which is fine, apart from one thing.

I want to put it on the back windscreen just under the 3rd brakelight, but have encountered a dealer sticker from hell.

I thought it was a simple peel-on peel-off affair, but it turns out to have been put on with some sort of uber-glue which means I can't even get a teeny bit off to peel the rest of it way.

If anyone else has had a similar problem with the "Horners" stickers on their Octy, how did you remove them?

try carefully heating it with a hairdryer (ask a TT owning friend for a loan :D ) mind any plastic trim though as this may feel the effects, if thats too awkward hot water on the rear screen may also help, remove any residue with meths or petrol on a rag (in a well ventilated area: OPEN THE BOOT ;) )

cheers

After my local dealer's (Chathams) stickers killed 2 heated rear windows (1 in my Fabia, 1 in the Octavia) I asked them not to put another one of their evil "uber glue" stickers on it.

Job done, and the briskoda sticker has not effected my rear screen.

So be very careful when removing it that you won't damage the wires in the rear screen.

Don't know anyone with a TT, but I do have a sister....

Going to look really strage tomorrow afternoon with a 20 foot extension cable and a hair dryer in the boot of the Octy though......... ;)

Yes, and I found the easiest way was to remove it was to get a new rear screen... :D

Previously to that I'd had my Briskoda sticker mounted just beneath the Horners sticker, and it really didn't get in the way - and I've got the large one!

Rob.

- and I've got the large one! Rob.

hmm theres a joke in there somewhere :D:D:D;)

Just a small one ;)

As for the sticker, as already stated, get some heat on it.

I got my dealer free-ad off on one of those lovely summer days we had this year, and didn't need any extra heat sources, it peeled off nice n easy ;)

So why don't you stick right above the 3rd brakelight?

Thats ofcourse only possible if you ordered the external type.

Oh.

Clouds of confusion and bewilderment clearing.

Once you get the sticker off, if you leave a load of glue behind, get it off using WD40 rubbed in with a cloth :)

I have the solution boys ...

... or rather, SWMBO has. I had a similair problem, after some t**t dealer stuck a ludicrous sticker in the rear window of my Astra Estate, that rendered the rear-view mirror useless, unless the car behind you was tail-gating.

All attempts to remove the sticker failed, until SWMBO suggested trying a bottle of 'Acetone'. Took the sticker off in about a minute, dead easily. Don't get it on the paintwork though, for God's sake ...

Acetone is the main ingredient of nail varnish (polish?) remover - probably easier to obtain.

I'm sure she will be able to give you some pointers. :D
