Yes, in fact the longest production delays on the Octavia 4 are on the hybrids, the latest info on the Octavia 4 forum here is that hybrids have an estimated production delay of 18 MONTHS - longer than any of the ICE versions.

so fair to say the 1.6 diesel engines must be available for production lines?

is the DGTE code engine used in current production or has it been superseded?

 is any later code compatible?

The latest scans with that engine code I've seen are from 2020 so it may no longer being made, there might be some remanufactured/refurbished ones available.

I don't believe there are any 1.6 TDI in the current range, feel free to check the Skoda website. Even if something is available for new cars, it doesn't mean it'll be orderable, Skoda/VAG may want to keep parts solely for their production lines.

As for other 'compatible' engines, I'd suggest you talk to a dealer or good independent to see what your options are

If you're worried if Skoda can or will supply a replacement engine for your gubbed car, then I'm sure there is stock held somewhere in Europe, reserved for warranty and authorised replacements, many will be "factory" refurbished engines rebuilt from warranty failures like yours. Note factory refurbished will not be the factory where they were originally made.

Alternatively they may take your engine out, send it away and rebuild it with new bits using a third party, of which there are many specialists available in the UK.

Or the dealers may rebuild it themselves.

Depends on the extent of damage and costs involved.
