Speelling!

Featured Replies

I am not the best person in the world at spelling,:o but some of the bad spelling on this forum is terrible.:thumbdwn:

I recently noticed that my Google toolbar has a spell checker on it.

It actually checks the spelling inside message boxes.

I know that most of the time it's the old brain quicker than the fingers syndrome, but can we have some attention to what we are typing.

I completely agree. Some people even have spelling mistakes in their signature. There's a big difference between a typographical error due to keyboard frenzy and just poor or lazy English. If you're not sure how to spell a word, look it up in the dictionary.

While we are on the subject of language I am fed up of the misuse of 'was' and 'were', and 'them' and those'. The latter in both of these examples seems to have been forgotten:

I was

You were

He was

We were

You (lot) were

They were

I know my spelling often appears to be bad (Asda for example) but it is most often caused by lame typing skills

It's good to see that it's not just me who can't spell.

I was given the book, 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves' (the Panda Joke!)

since then, I have been trying to keep myself in check, but that Google spellcheck thingy is a life saver.

its ok spell checking it but it may take all day to do it if there is , iirc , tbh ,wtf ,swmbo, etc etc etc acronyms all over the post or does it take into account these ?

Please except my apologies for any gramatical errors on my part. I do suffer from Dyslexia and sometimes struggle when typing. I do recheck most of my posts but sadly they still look right to me..lol

removed unfunny post ,sorry

You can teach the spell checker new words, so that it will miss them out in the future.

However, you have to spell the new words correctly first.:P

As long as people understand what i'm saying' date=' where's the problem!!!![/quote']

The problem is mate that when others read it, they may think Jesus ,,,, what is he saying!

I have been trying to keep myself in check, but that Google spellcheck thingy is a life saver.

Well done mate, at least your trying.

does it take into account acronyms?

Try it and find out ,,,,,,, ! There's a link somewhere on the net, save it in your Favorites.

OK, Rant over.

Nobody is 100% at spelling, 100% of the time, but if you are aware of your downfalls,,, check it,,, look it up,,, ask someone? Remember the world may be watching.

If any of the above is incorrect, remember the 100/100% lark. At least I've tried.

AS FOR TXT TALK. Ok, lets keep it as txt talk ,,,,, on the trombone ,,,,, Pleeeeease!

This subject has been covered before. Late last year a thread entitled "Spelling" got quite heated at times but has some interesting views to say the least!.

...I am fed up of...
Or even "with"? It's like a penny slot machine, this spelling thing. Sooner or later another thread crops up - but no-one will ever hit the jackpot, because there isn't one.

Regards

Mo

That's why i said, "as long as people understand what i'm saying"!!! If they understand, then how can they not know what i'm saying!!!!

I've always used a spell checker if there's anything i'm not sure about but 90% of the time, i've never had a problem with my spelling!!!
