Infotainment misbehaving.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I am a new member , having just bought a 2013 1.9tdi Elegance.

I knew there were some problems with the car but am happy to sort them out myself, if possible. The car had been standing for about 18 months and there was a lot of damp inside.

The driver's window switch wasn't working but after stripping and cleaning the circuit board all is now fine.

One issue I am stuck with, however, is the infotainment.

It is a Columbus model but has only three modes, as per the pictures below.

1. Frozen on the Skoda logo - most frequent.

2. Blank

3. Radio stations but no buttons work NAV/Phone/Setup et al.

4. Very rarely it will wake up properly and I am able to set a radio station or use the Nav before it turns itself off.

On one occasion I managed to go through the Factory Reset but it hasn't sorted the problem.

I am trying to figure out if it's the display or the unit in the glove box that has the problem.

I have taken the head unit out for a look but there was no sign of damp/build-up around the connections. I'm not sure yet how to remove the unit in the glove box to check the connections there.

The car battery never went dead but did need a boost to get it going and since been fine.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Steve
