2015 Octavia - ACC and Front Assist not available - VCDS codes interpretation help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Went out in the car Monday, no issues. Parked on my drive overnight, went to it on Tuesday and got warning that ACC and front assist aren't available. Yellow warning light on dash, audible warning on start up and every time I drop below 10 mph. Park assist even in reverse not functional.

A friend has a VCDS scanner and carried out a scan for me - see attatched. A fault is present with the Auto Dist Reg but there's a lot of other stuff too, so I can't figure out whether this is the root cause or if there's something else knocking this out. There seems to be a lot of mentions of databus faults.

Looking for help interpreting what the VCDS codes are telling me to know what step to take next - do I need the radar recalibrating, does it look like the parts knackered or does something else need doing first? File attached.

Cheers!

Interesting...just took the car for a wash, went to park up afterwards and was surprised that the reverse sensors were back...ACC and Front Assist warning still present though.

BUT, what was more surprising was that I now have new errors on the dash - check trailer brake lights and rear lights. I do have a tow bar fitter, but the electric plug was tucked away with it's cover securely in place. It's got me wondering if there's water ingress somewhere in the electrics causing all these errors?

Check out the steering angle sensor fault, without steering angle info the ACC and Front Assist will be disabled.

It's a bit difficult to advise further as your cable (HEX-USB+CAN?) doesn't support the longer CAN bus messages that VAG introduced a few years ago (hence the comments about more information not available), you need a newer cable like a HEX-V2 to get complete diagnostic information - no the HEX-USB+CAN can't be software updated there's just no room for more software updates in the cable!

Update for anyone interested.

Managed to clear off the Auto Dist Reg fault on VCDS, tested it out and ACC working fine. So, thinking it's more to do with the tow bar electrics, which have only been on around 6 months. Spoke to the fitter this morning and they are going to take a look on Thursday.

Hopefully this is the issue and all the other faults are red herrings caused by this!
