Intermittent front wiper

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls sorry if this has been ask but I did have a look and couldn't see anything.

Basically when I engage the intermediate wiper setting on the front wipers it wipes once and then doesn't wipe again (even when its raining) but every other setting on the wipers work. It also wipes once when intermediate setting is on and i use the speed setting and set it to the fastest setting but again its only once and then doesn't wipe again. Any advice is appreciated tia. Do you have rain sensing or plain intermittent wipers?

Have you tried adjusting the slider switch on top of the windscreen wiper stalk?

It wipes just once when I set it to the fastest setting then doesn't move again till I move the stalk to a different position.

I bet that you are testing it at a standstill!!!!!!!

Try it while driving.

It came as a surprise to me after 2 years of driving the Yeti to find that the wipers stopped working while I was at traffic lights and started again as soon as I moved off.

Problem solved?

For auto wipers its not an intermittent/intermediate setting but a sensitivity control for the rain sensor, in steady rainfall it has pretty much the same effect though, the more sensitive that you set it the more frequently it will trigger.

My comment above about not working at a standstill relates to my 2015 Yeti with standard intermittent wiper (no rain sensor) control, it could be true for the rain sensor also but I don't know.

Sorted it now thanks everyone.

I knew about the standing still and them not working and that wasn't the issue, how I solved it was the automatic setting on the car information settings was ticked so that the rain sensor set the wipers off in the rain but for some reason unticking that box made them work.   🤨

In my experience, rain drop number 3 on top of the stalk works well in most conditions, i.e, it wipes infrequently when just a sprinkle of rain but as rain gets harder it gets faster.

On my estate model 2016 SEL, if selected in the infotainment menu "automatic rear wiper" it will intermittently wipe if the rain sensing gets to a speed when there are no breaks.
