I have a mk3 Octavia hatchback with electric sunroof and am considering adding roof bars and box for my next camping trip.

My question is, am I able to fit the bars? it has the fixing points in the door area (I think that's the technical term)but I'm suddenly getting  concerned about it sitting on glass next to the actual roof - SWMBO says I'm panicking over nothing. 

Also, is there a maximum length I can have so that it doesn't interfere with opening of rear boot hatch?

I might add a rear bike carrier (over the hatch) at some point also.

I rented rails and a roofbox from the Skoda garage so I don't have them to hand but here are some pictures that might help of when it was installed.

The first time I got the genuine Skoda roofbox with the upsloping rear on it, second time they gave me a Seat one (as in pictures) 

 

In the closed position I'm certain there will be ample clearance between the sunroof glass and the roof bars. It may foul if you open the sunroof however....

I use Thule fittings which look essentially as pictured in the post from Iway and have no problems with sunroof clearance when open.
