Scoping out Superb L&K models - what to look out for?

Recommended Posts

Currently running a 2012 SLK 350 AMG line as my daily. Going to be doing a lot of South Devon to Isle of Skye and return trips (700miles each way) and I'm looking for something roomier and more economical! I like my tech toys and and having had and enjoyed an SLK with lots of extras, I'm not wanting to do with out these hence narrowing down on the L&K (though an executive isn't out of the running). I'm guessing the TDi engine is the top one to go for and the 4WD version would be ideal as in winter, part of the route over Rannoch Moor and through Glen Coe does suffer from Winter conditions.

Saw a 2016 car online with just shy of 72k miles and FSH for just under £19k.  It's a TDi DSG Auto with 4WD, Tow Bar, TV tuner and much more, but it had brown leather seats...)

  • Higher mileage (with a service record doesn't scare me as much as it used to.
  • I checked the MOT history and it had passed every time with no advisories.
  • Auto Trader says it's a 'great price' but is it? I know 2nd hand is more than it was. Happy to pay a fair price for what ever I'm buying but I don't have the money to throw needlessly.

So my big question is are the brown leather seats nicer in real life than in photos? It's a long way to travel to see it if they're not good. I know it's down to personal taste but... Anything else I need  to think about?

Thanks.

Welcome,

What does the service record show as being done other than Oil & Filter Services?

Was the DSG Serviced at 40,000 miles, was the Haldex done in 2019 or at 30,000 miles and again  @ 60,000 or before now in 2022?

Just texted the Dealer with your question, (thanks btw) and quickly had a message back saying that the Haldex has been done once and that they'd do it again before it went out.

Looked at a lot of photos of Skoda's Brown seats last night. Try as I might, I couldn't bring myself to like them. Pity as the car I was looking at ticked all of the other boxes. I realise that this is a personal taste thing and others may love them. The search continues.
