Tailgate locking and unlocking

Featured Replies

Recently my tailgate would only open intermittently with the remote or the handle which is electronic, and now it has given up the ghost completely and I have to crawl in the back and manually open it.

I bought a new boot door lock actuator expecting great things, but no, nothing. All the other doors open with the remote as they should but when you press the boot button on the remote there is nothing, no clicking or sound whatsoever. Is there a fuse for this or what, I cant understand why it worked intermittently if it was a fuse, all the contacts at the actuator are clean. Can anyone give me a clue as to where to look next? Any clues gratefully received.

Does the red LED blink on the remote?

I've got a dodgy microswitch in my driver's door lock so sometimes my boot won't open unless I open the passenger door or one of the rear doors first, then it opens fine.  This is a common problem on Skodas (one other Octavia and three Fabias I know have this issue).

I have a new switch but CBA to take the whole door apart to fix. Maybe in the summer.

Yes the red light flashes on the remote, tried both remotes and changed the batteries in both but no joy.

check the connector blocks where the cable passes from the car body to the hatch. pretty sure its tucked under the headlining.  also check the cables for wear and tear inside the bellows. good chance either the connector has water corrosion or theres a broken/shorted wire in the loom. happens with drivers door cable bellows alot too.
