Rear speakers

Featured Replies

hi all,

as you all know my ice instal is almost complete, has anyone replaced the rear speakers in there octy hatchback? is there anything i should watchout for? lack of space for speakers etc?

thanks

replaced my rear speakers with infinity(552i i think). getting the last screw in on driver side is tricky, got my son to do it in end. You need small hands.

I reckon March. What do you think Geoff?

There is plenty of room for the rear speakers, you just need to make sure that the replacement speakers are fairly flush or fit some spacers so that a protruding tweeter isn't going to hit the plastic grille.

Extremely fiddly unless you've got little carnie hands, but the boot is big enough to sit in comfortably while doing the work...

can you buy spacers or do u just make them up?

Either but I agree the drivers side rear is a swine to get at.

ill look fwd to that, thanks for the advice mate

Saying that I usually attempt any motor/electrical/plumbing etc jobs armed only with and old spoon and an imperial socket set.

I'm sure with the right tools it's alot easier.

Flexible screwdriver makes a world of difference ;)

I fitted a spare set of JBL speakers I had into the back of my dad's Octavia. however they are now dead as every time you open the boot when its raining it poors water into them. Not sure if I would want to fit expensive speakers in the back of the hatch. I would put some 6x9's on the parcel shelf.

Yeah, you can buy spacers. Or, you can buy longer screws and a big bag of washers, then spend three hours in the boot swearing and cussing... :D

It's more fun than I make it sound!

At least if you do it yourself you can get the amount of clearance you want.

looking at the ROCKFORD-HPC2205 or the Alpine SPR-134A

Just installed some Inifinity 9603i 6x9...cost

I noticed this for the first time this morning.

Skoda's designers are to be congratulated, it must have taken weeks working out how to get the water to pour DIRECTLY into the speakers, without spilling a drop

:stupid:

I think it's been mentioned before but you should have seen us at Duxford. Loads of RS drivers praising the Skoda designers talent.

and me standing under the combi's tailgate

...and me also sheltering from possible nuclear fallout under mine (ie tailgate)...:D
