How do you remove the kick panels either side of the transmission tunnel? Is it just pull until it detaches or are there clips requiring release before it detaches?

See the rectangle near the foot rest. Remove it.

 

there’s a torx screw behind it, after this pull the end near the foot rest towards the door then pull the entire assembly downwards
