Hit and Run

Featured Replies

I was stopping in red traffic light. One Audi Sub from the other side of the road turn into main road and fail to stop behind me. he hit me. we got out of the car. no major damage happened other than light scratch. I had mobile in my hand to take photo. guy advised me to pull over on the side road as we were blocking the traffic. then he quckly u-turned and vanished.

I checked my dash cam which has cabincamera as well. number plate is not very clear..but some expert may reveal it. what should i do? I saw on the footage that scambag was looking around for cctv camera before he jumped into his car and vanished.

Report 'hit & run' to Police offering dashcam footage - they have experts who can enhance images.

If damage sufficient to want insurance to pay then obviously inform them also.

As PetrolDave says. With the extra note that the Motor Insurers' Bureau may compensate you for your claim if you have reported the H&R to the Police.

I wish if i could have informed to the police, but it is more than 24hrs now.  Would police let my insurance company know about it as well? Informing this incident to insurance company would increase my premium, i experienced it before.

You have a light scratch and learned what to do and what not to do should a similar incident happen in the future, don't compound your grief by involving your insurers, move on and forget about it.

The MIB will laugh at a claim for a scratch from a driver with comprehensive insurance, their role is picking up the pieces when someone is left paralysed by an uninsured driver (an example).
